We will be back again! Stopped in right at 11 when they open for a quick bite before hitting the LO trail. They were quick and accommodating. We ordered two spring rolls and a green papaya salad. Both were fresh and wonderfully seasoned and just the right amount of spicy. We had been thinking of stopping at cvs for some snacks- for the same amount of money this was a much better choice!

My husband and I are Thai addicts, we generally get take out every Sunday night. We only tried this place once and we were not impressed. The dishes did not have the flavor of some of the other places in town. We'd much rather go to Bamboo Thai.

Sala Thai is just one of many Thai places in the over-saturated Lake Orion/Oxford area, but it manages to stand out because of its great flavor and consistency. I've tried almost all the Thai places around and Sala has grown on me as my favorite, along with Bangkok Thai in Rochester. My favorite dishes are Drunken Noodle, Gaeng Gai, Pad Ped and Pad Thai. Sala does well with both noodle and rice dishes, and their curry is very flavorful and spicy (depending on your preferred spice level). The interior is pretty basic Thai restaurant layout, although I suspect most of their business comes through take-out. My only complaint about the interior is a flat screen TV that takes away from the atmosphere. I ate there once when they were playing Transformers, and it was just distracting. Of course it seems all restaurants need televisions these days, for whatever reason. I would recommend Sala - the flavor is great and I've never gotten something that I didn't like. You'll end up paying a couple bucks more per dish than the average Thai place, but I would still take it for the taste. If it were a little bit cheaper, I would consider giving this place 5 stars. And if they got rid of that TV.

I love the food here. I haven't been disappointed in any of my many visits and feel like the owners / workers treat you like family ( a good family ;) The spice level of medium is equiv. to hot at other places, I find that a +

I love this place. The staff was great and very friendly. The sushi...YUM-O! I had the Spicy Tuna and the Vegetarian Roll and the hubby had the Rainbow Roll. They were all excellent. I would like to come back to try the Thai food next. The place was very clean and quaint. Each booth looks like a little wood pagoda. I will definitely be back :)

This place is pretty standard when it comes to thai food. I normally get the drunken noodles, but I didn't like the sauce that this placed used. I would order from them again if it was my last option for thai in the city.

We will be back here again! The springs rolls were excellent, as well as the pineapple fried rice and drunken noodles! Our waitress was very friendly too. The food should have come faster given how few people were dining then but it was worth the wait for sure...craving some Thai as we speak!

Typically, I go to new Thai places based on the number (and quality) of Yelp reviews. Being that Sala Thai is less than 5 minutes from where I'm staying in LO, I opted to go for convenience tonight, even if it meant risking potential quality. It turns out that my quality fears were unfounded, and Sala Thai turned out some pretty solid food. I went with the Gaeng Phaneang with Chicken--which I'm pretty sure is just a more confusing way of saying "chicken panang curry". I ordered it "mild +" and it was the absolute PERFECT amount of heat for me, the most perfect I've ever had. As a result, it was among the best Thai entrees I've had. I'd highly recommend this dish. I also ordered the "Golden Shrimp Rolls" aka deep fried shrimp. $5.25 for 4 measly fried shrimp, eh, not quite what I had in mind. I guess I should have read, and interpreted, the menu more clearly. I guess the reason why this place gets 3 stars instead of 4 is the price. My entree was $11--and it was probably the smallest entree I've ever gotten from a Thai restaurant. Typically, I can spend $17 at a Thai place and get 2 solid meals out of it. Tonight, I got barely one.

This place is great if you like rude staff, ho-hum food, and a menu who's prices change between the time you order and the time you pay.

Our server was very shy and quiet. My fried rice was a little bland for my taste but was not sure how hot to order it due to other reviews. Shirley's curry chicken was very good! Chicken wing appetizer was a let down batter did not stick to the wings leaving them basically plain fried wings. portion size was a bit small for the prices in comparison to our normal Thai place. Overall Sala Thai is worth a try.

good food i am goind to quote another yelper about the service because i was treated the same " The only server in the place appeared to be the owner, a lady that seemed more annoyed that we were there than grateful. She wasn't busy, we were the only ones there. She was more concerned with her phone than she was us" there was a half hour till they close so iwas told i was limited on my selections. but i will go back for the good food. i would have given 4 stars if the service was a little friendly.

This place has been open for a couple months. My daughter and I saw it while driving down Lapeer Road and, always on the look out for a good Thai place, we tried their carry out. Although we didn't eat in, the interior of the restaurant looked charming. (Also, they have a sushi bar, but we didn't try it.) We ordered pad thai mild, kow pad medium, and a couple spring rolls. The food was well prepared and tasted very good, although I could do without the tomatoes in the kow pad. I had the fried rice and it was spicy! It's always tough to know how hot and spicy the food is at a new restaurant, and this was no exception. Next time (and there will be a next time), I think I'll order the kow pad mild.

As noted, food here is spicier than your average Thai restaurant. Eaten here twice in a week and really like it. Next visit I'll dive in to the sushi. They have a very complete menu.

Good Thai food. Soups are fantastic. Service is excellent. I have to order additional vegetables in my dishes but other than that - I can't complain. Order it spicy and you get it spicy!

My boyfriend and I enjoy Thai and tried Sala Thai for the first time. We enjoyed everything that we ordered, the almond pad Thai curry with scallops and tofu and I enjoyed the crazy noodle. The fresh rolls for appetizer were delicious. Try to convince someone to share coconut ice cream for dessert - if you like coconut, you will enjoy it. The service was very good and the atmosphere is comfortable. Give it a try!

I just discovered Thai food and I've been hooked. We typically go to Thai Cuisine in Oxford but thought we would give Sala Thai a try. The dining room was very quaint, I loved the booths that were raised up off the ground. We ordered chicken pad thai, crab rangoon and coconut ice cream. We also received a free cup of hot and sour soup. It came in a very, very small cup, think shot glass :) It was flavorful and delicious. The crab rangoon arrived and they were really good as well, hot, crunchy and lots of flavor inside. The chicken pad thai was very disappointing. The portion was small, much less than we get a Thai Cuisine. It was completely flat, no variances of flavors. It was just boring. My daughter had the coconut ice cream and it was pretty good. Overall, it was an ok visit but we probably won't be back. If I could get Sala Thai's crab rangoon at Thai Cuisine in Oxford, like would be perfect.

I have to admit I only ordered here because Thai Cuisine was closed and I used to frequent the original Sala Thai. We ordered their Pad Thai chicken medium and their Red Curry or Gaeng Gai chicken mild plus. Pretty standard fare. Then I read the reviews. I have to say I was leery about having ordered. Food was ready in about 10 minutes. It was not my absolute favorite Thai ever. But it was good. Would order those again.

Decent thai, always quick but not very robust or full of the real thai flavor I desire. The Tom yum soup is always my go to but no lemon grass can really be tasted.

I was shocked. After reading the reviews here on Yelp, I expected a good experience. However, this is, by far, one of the worst Thai restaurants I've ever been to. Having been to Thailand a few times, I know what authentic Thai food should taste like. I don't expect perfection, but what we got was so unappetizing that we literally just got up and left. I had the chicken curry, a dish I happen to love. The ONLY taste in the dish was the red pepper they used to spice it up. Couldn't taste the curry at all. And it sort of smelled like an armpit. The only server in the place appeared to be the owner, a lady that seemed more annoyed that we were there than grateful. She wasn't busy, we were the only ones there. She was more concerned with her phone than she was us. The place was decorated nicely. The prices charged were outrageous. Dinner for 2, with iced tea and pepsi and one spring roll a piece came out to over $35. I would absolutely NOT recommend this restaurant to anybody.
